May 25, 2016 @ 8:00 am - May 30, 2016 @ 5:00 pm MST
Permission to Enter
A Way of Pausing, Sensing INSIDE, and Responding
7th annual Northumberland, UK Immersion, 2016
We are preparing to go to lands that we have come to love in the Northeast corner of England, just below her border with Scotland. Called Northumberland, a county whose population is said to average 2.5 people per square mile. Lots of Hawthorne, old growth Oak, rolling green hills and sheep.
Last year we had the pleasure of bringing 5 Americans with us and we had a blast. Went to Edinburgh, Scotland first, where we do an offering at a magical studio called Salisbury Centre, took a train down to the quaint coastal village called Alnmouth, and then we danced for five days in the middle of countryside at Bolton Village Hall outside of Alnwick. From there, some left for London, some traveled to France, one went to Finland. Anything is possible!
We will work with: Inner-directed self guided fluid movement through the Body supported by Thought and Feeling and Sensation, Word and Witness and Music; Silence and Stillness and Sound; Spontaneous Ceremony, Ground and extraordinary Breath. Mindful touch with more and less contact with partners, always optional based on your level of comfort, sense of safety and desire.
*This year’s theme is inspired by our long-term friend and fellow dancer, Daniel Leighton’s recent show at Gallery 825 in Los Angeles, CA (closing Friday). Daniel says: “…the necessity to have a space in which to process physical and emotional responses to constant stimuli is paramount… He explores the concept of granting access to our hearts, minds, and bodies along with technological extensions of ourselves. Leighton posits that the choice of granting or not granting ‘permission to enter’ is primary to symbiotic human interaction.”
